Sexuality, sensuality, eroticism, kink, are all just as necessary as sustenance and water for some of our bodies. And just like food, some need to consume more, or sometimes less, than others. Throughout the United States and a variety of other countries, talking about or depicting any aspect of sex other than as a means of procreation or marketing is blasphemous. Throughout many homes, even saying the word "labia" is taboo. Many of us have been shamed for our desires and fantasies, or just simply weren't given any education or explanation surrounding the expansive universe that is sexuality or eroticism. This short film was created as an effort to tickle the senses in a way that showcases the many facets of sensuality, using food and play. Who doesn't enjoy licking sweet sugar off their fingers or sucking up cream from a milkshake? It was titled "Bodegón" as homage to some of the most erotically beautiful depictions of food, as well as a subtle nod to my Spanish ancestors. Banquets of flavors and color. I imagine that if we incorporated more playful curiosity surrounding the idea of sexuality and eroticism, instead of the patriarchal and religiously tinged mindset that many of us have had shoved down our throats, we'd be a lot happier as humans. Let's communicate more about sex. A lot more. We should all have a better access to education and understand of one of the most beautiful experiences of life.
