A Waking Eye is run by Andrés Sauceda, a Videographer and Photographer who often seeks to capture the beauty we sometimes miss, when we aren’t completely present.

Every moment behind a lens is an instance in time which Andrés seeks to capture and cultivate the curiosity and wonder that permeates the world around us.

Andrés first started photographing with disposable cameras while on trips to Hong Kong, Teotihuacan, Shenzen, Monte Albán, Manila, Phnom Penh, and other areas across Asia and Mexico. Upon upgrading to a Nikon D90 in college, Andrés began capturing all possible moments around him. Fields of sorghum and orchards in Edinburg, Tx, tattoo artists, architecture, life.

However, a moment of disaster struck. During a lightning storm, Andrés’ computer and electronics were damaged and he lost years of scanned/digital photography and videos. In a moment of overwhelming loss, Andrés sold all his photography equipment, thinking he would never pursue it again.

After many years, Andrés has since decided that life is too short to diminish what brings one joy, and thus has decided to pick up a camera. Now armed with a hybrid Panasonic S5IIX, he captures various instances in time for the benefit of self expression and the support of others.

Armed with a Master of Science in Rhetoric, a Bachelor of Science in Sound Engineering, 6+ years of Data Analysis experience, 10+ years of photography, videography, lighting, and audio engineering experience, Andrés Sauceda is a jack of all trades and a master of some. He now seeks to capture beautiful moments in time and tell stories of the world that we live in.
